BC Winter Games Info:

Anyone 11 and up as of Jan. 1, 2022 has a chance to qualify within our Zone or as a Wildcard within the province.  You have to compete at the TIMBER TOUR level to have a shot to qualify.  Super Youth isn’t a qualifier.  Secondly anyone doing the Timber Tour level needs a Provincial licenses so if you bought a CLUB level you would need to upgrade to a Provincial to register.

Note at BC games you have to do all events (Moguls, Slopestyle and Big Air).  To Qualify you need 1 Mogul Score and One Slopestyle or Big Air Score.  The combined total will rank you against the other athletes in your zone and province.  In Panorama they have 1 mogul, and 2 chances for a Slopestyle or Big Air score to count towards your total.

Timber Tour vs Super Youth:

Timber Tour:

Timber Tour is BC Freestyle’s official level where all the best athletes within the clubs compete at.  Timber Tour is an athletes gateway into the BC Winter Games, Jr Nationals and BC Prospect and down the road BC Provincial teams.  All timber tour events have ranking points awarded for each event and athletes are ranked with all athletes across BC.  They have a Slopestyle/Big Air and Moguls Rankings.  Timber Tour has U20, U18, U16, U14. If you are under 12 but have the skills you would just compete at a U14 level.

Super Youth:

Super Youth are development level events attended for those aged 12 and under.  Super Youth is using the Freestyle Festival format which is a series of activities to test their skills within the freestyle venues.  It’s target is aligned with the LTAD and is set to make friends and have a tonne of FUN.  If your skills don’t align with the Timber Tour level and you are over 12 you can still compete at the Super Youth Level. Note you cannot flip in the Super Youth level.

If you are wondering what event to participate in…If you’re flipping in contest you should be skiing in the Timber Tour.  If you are comfortable hitting bigger jumps with spins you should ski at the Timber Tour Level.  Please if you never done a Provincial Event it doesn’t mean you have to go to Super Youth.  It depends more on your skill level than just age as some of the Super Youth courses are very small and athletes overkill doesn’t reflect their competition experience.  If you are unsure what level to register in, please reach out to Chris our your Coach.
